Vector shapes, score tracks, favorites, resize

Draw your own shapes, merge them, build a numbered score track, save team favorites and resize a component.

Last reviewed October 11, 2026

This article is for designers who want more than text and stock elements. The Component Designer has its own drawing tools, a score-track builder, a shared favorites library and a resize panel.

What this page helps you do

  • Draw custom shapes with the pen or pencil and merge shapes together.
  • Build a numbered score track around a board.
  • Save colors, elements and shapes for the whole team.
  • Change a component's size after the fact.

You'll start from the side panel inside a component (Prototypes > Components, then open a component).

Before you start

  • Beta, rolling out to teams. If Prototypes is missing from your sidebar, your team is not in the rollout yet.
  • Plan: Pathfinder plan and up. Adventurer teams see "Prototypes are a Pathfinder plan feature" with Upgrade to Pathfinder. Virtual Table AI is Oracle and LaunchBoom only, 50 builds per team per day.
  • Roles: Collaborators cannot use the Component Designer or 3D Mockups.

Draw a shape with the pen

Open the Vector shapes panel and click Draw a shape (P). Click on the page to place each corner; press and drag to make a curve.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Close the shape by clicking the first point, double-clicking, or pressing Enter or Esc. Backspace takes the last point back.
  • What you can do: Give the finished shape its own fill, Stroke and stroke width from the toolbar. Resize and rotate it like any element.
  • Good to know: Press V or Esc to put the pen down and return to the selection arrow.

Draw freehand with the pencil

Under Pencil, pick Brush, Highlighter or Free shape. Drag on the page to draw.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Brush and Highlighter make a line per stroke. Free shape closes one stroke into a filled shape you can recolor and merge.
  • What you can do: Sketch a river across a board, or a hand-drawn frame around a card.
  • Good to know: Click the button again, or press Esc or V, to stop.

Merge shapes

Select two or more shapes or SVGs with Shift+click. Under Merge shapes in the panel, or from the Merge menu in the selection toolbar, pick an operation.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Union joins them, Combine keeps the parts that do not overlap, Intersect keeps only the overlap, Subtract cuts the others out of the first, Fragment splits every piece into its own shape.
  • What you can do: Cut a window out of a frame, or turn an icon plus a circle into one badge.
  • Good to know: "These shapes do not overlap, so the result would be empty" means Intersect has nothing to keep. An SVG made only of lines or text has no filled area and cannot be merged. The result takes the first shape's style.

Build a score track

Open the Score track panel. It builds a numbered ring around the page or, when something is selected, around the selection.

  1. Set From and To (at least 4 spaces).
  2. Pick the Outline (Rectangle or Circle / ellipse), Space size (mm) and Margin (mm).
  3. Pick Position (inside, on or outside the outline), First space, Direction and whether Spaces are squares or circles.
  4. Set Number every and Highlight every (0 turns highlights off), tick Turn numbers with the track if you like, and set the Colors.
  5. Click Add score track.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: The summary reads "50 spaces, each about 12 × 10 mm". A warning appears when the spaces come out much shorter than they are deep.
  • What you can do: Select an existing track to load its settings; the button turns into Update track and replaces it in place.
  • Good to know: The track is a plain group of shapes and numbers. You can recolor one space by hand or move the whole group.

Save favorites for the team

Favorites are shared by everyone on the team and appear in every component. Open Elements and switch to the Favorites sub-tab to see them.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Select an element or group and click the star (Add to favorites) in the toolbar; an optional name helps the team find it. In any color picker, the star (Save color) adds the color to Team colors.
  • What you can do: Click a favorite to add it to the page, or drag it where you want it.
  • Good to know: A team can keep 500 favorites. Removing one asks first and leaves designs that already use it untouched. Favorites exist in the Component Designer only, not in the sell-sheet editor.

Resize a component

Open the Resize panel. Pick one of the standard sizes for the component's type, or Custom size, set the Bleed (mm), and click Resize to Tarot (70 × 110 mm).

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Scale the content fits the design to the new size instead of keeping elements where they are.
  • What you can do: Move a deck from Poker to Tarot without redrawing. Every master and card follows.
  • Good to know: The new size is saved on the component, so the dieline guides and the exports use it too.

Place elements by the millimetre

Select an element and open Size and position in the toolbar to type Width, Height, Horizontal position and Vertical position in mm, with Keep proportions.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: The zoom control sits in the middle of the top toolbar.
  • What you can do: Give a group a Glow (color, size, opacity). On a card the glow is locked; change it on the master.
  • Good to know: Linked elements on cards are locked. Edit on the master, or unlink first (see Data Merge).

Tips & common questions

Can I merge an icon from the Elements panel with a shape? Yes, as long as the icon has filled areas. Select both and choose Union or Subtract.

Why does Intersect say the result would be empty? The shapes do not overlap. Move one so they touch, then try again.

Does a favorite update when I change the original? No. A favorite is a copy at the time you saved it. Save it again under a new name after changes.

Can a track count down? Yes. Set From higher than To.
