Send a component to the Virtual Table

Render a deck in the Component Designer and import it into a Virtual Table deck with its backs and copies.

Last reviewed October 11, 2026

This article is for designers who built a deck in the Component Designer and want to play it online. One export sends the cards to your team's rooms; one import fills a deck.

What this page helps you do

  • Render a component's cards for the Virtual Table.
  • Import them into a deck inside a room.
  • Update the table after changing the design.

You'll start from the Export button of a component (Prototypes > Components, then open a component), and finish inside a room.

Before you start

  • Beta, rolling out to teams. If Prototypes is missing from your sidebar, your team is not in the rollout yet.
  • Plan: Pathfinder plan and up. Adventurer teams see the Prototypes gate with Upgrade to Pathfinder. Automate with AI is Oracle and LaunchBoom only, 50 builds per team per day.
  • Roles: Collaborators cannot use the Component Designer or 3D Mockups.
  • Generate the cards first (see Data Merge). Only generated cards are sent.

Render and send

In the component, click Export (Ctrl+E / Cmd+E) and pick Virtual table. The text reads: "The cards are rendered here and saved with this component. In a virtual table room, open a deck and choose Import from a component."

  1. Check the Scope and the Back.
  2. Click Render and send. Progress shows "Rendering 7 of 20".
  3. When it reads "20 cards sent to the virtual table", click Open virtual table or Close.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: The dialog says how many cards will be sent and, after a send, "On the table: 20 cards, sent 5 minutes ago. Sending again replaces them for new decks."
  • What you can do: Rows with a copies value repeat in the deck. Cards with different backs keep their own; a single back becomes the deck's back.
  • Good to know: Cards are rendered at 750 px wide, which is plenty for a screen and keeps rooms fast. The same render feeds the Cards from picker in 3D Mockups.

Import into a deck

Open a room, click Edit, and Add deck (or select a deck you already have). In Properties, click Import from a component.

  1. Pick the component from the list. Each entry shows how many cards it holds.
  2. The deck fills with the cards and their back.
  3. Click Done editing and play.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: The dialog's line reads "Components you sent to the virtual table from the component editor."
  • What you can do: Import the same component into several rooms, or into two decks (draw pile and a second copy).
  • Good to know: An empty list says "No components yet. Open a component in the editor and choose Send to virtual table." Go back to the component and Render and send.

Update after a design change

Change the master, press Update cards, then Export > Virtual table > Render and send again.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: The new render replaces the old one for new decks.
  • What you can do: In the room, import again into the deck to pick up the new cards.
  • Good to know: Decks already on a table keep the cards they were given until you import again, so an ongoing game is not disturbed.

Tips & common questions

Does sending cost anything or need a print? No. It is a render saved with the component. Nothing is printed and no file is downloaded.

Why does the deck show my cards face up? Open the deck's properties and tick Face down. Set Turn drawn cards face up as you prefer.

Can guests import a component? No. Importing is editing, which only team members do. Set the deck up before sharing the room.

My cards are named "Card 1, Card 2". How do I name them? Add a name, title or card column to the table before sending. The deck and Search deck use those names.
