For external playtesters: filling out a feedback form

A short guide for playtesters who received a Boardssey feedback link. No account needed, one submission per browser.

Last reviewed October 11, 2026

A board game designer sent you a link or a QR code that opens a Boardssey feedback form. This page explains what it is and how to fill it in well.

You do not need a Boardssey account. The form takes a few minutes, and your answers go straight to the designer.

What this page helps you do

  • Understand what the link is and who reads your answers.
  • Fill out the form so the designer can act on it.
  • Know what to do if the form will not open or you already submitted.

You'll start from the link the designer gave you (it looks like boardssey.com/feedback-form/...).

What the link is

The link opens a feedback form for one playtest of one game. The designer built it in Boardssey after a session you played: in person, online, or with a print-and-play copy at home.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the form's title and a short description at the top, then the questions, then a submit button at the bottom.
  • What you can do: answer and submit. The page is in your browser's language when Boardssey has a translation for it; the designer's questions stay in the language they wrote them in.
  • Good to know: the first two questions are always Your Name and Your Email, and both are required. The designer uses them to tell responses apart and to follow up. You can use a nickname if you prefer.

Tips for useful feedback

Designers say the same things make feedback useful, every time.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the long text boxes are where your feedback helps most.
  • What you can do:
    • Be specific. "The green action cards were hard to read" beats "I didn't like the cards".
    • Point at moments. "Around turn 6 I had no good options" beats "the midgame is slow".
    • Say what worked too. The designer needs to know what not to change.
    • Skip a question that does not fit your experience if it is optional, or say so in a text box.
  • Good to know: be honest. The designer is looking for problems, not compliments.

Submit

Answer the questions and click the submit button at the end. A "Thank You!" page confirms it and says "Your response has been securely recorded".

Helpful details

  • Key areas: required questions show an error if you leave them blank.
  • What you can do: finish in one sitting. The form does not save a draft; if you close the tab, your answers are gone.
  • Good to know: you can submit once per browser. If you open the link again on the same device you will see "Already Submitted", with the note "you can only submit once per form". Your first answers are kept.

If something goes wrong

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the page says what happened in a red box titled "Form Not Available".
  • What you can do:
    • "This form is no longer active": the designer closed the form. Email them your feedback instead.
    • "Failed to load form" or "Invalid form ID": the link is incomplete or the form was deleted. Ask the designer for a fresh link.
    • "Already Submitted" when you had not: someone else used this browser for the same form. Submit from another device or browser.
  • Good to know: if you forgot something after submitting, email the designer. You cannot edit a submitted response.

What happens to your feedback

Your answers are stored privately for the designer's team in Boardssey. They see your name, your email and your answers, with the time you submitted. They may follow up by email to thank you or ask a question.

Boardssey does not email you because you filled in a form, and does not share your answers outside the designer's team.

Tips & common questions

Do I have to give my name and email? Yes, both fields are required on every Boardssey feedback form. A nickname is fine; use an email you check if you are happy for the designer to follow up.

Can I edit my response after submitting? No. Email the designer with anything you want to add.

Can I submit for two people from one phone? Not from the same browser: the form accepts one submission per browser. The second person can use their own device, or you can open the link in a different browser or a private window.

Can I see my own response later? No, the form does not keep a copy for you. If you want one, write your long answers in a notes app first and paste them in.

Will I get spam from Boardssey? No. Boardssey never emails playtesters. Only the designer's team sees your contact details.
