The Invoice Generator is a small tool for producing simple, professional invoices, useful when you're freelancing, doing commissioned design work, or selling games at conventions and need a paper trail.
It's not full accounting software; it produces a one-off invoice as a PDF. Pair with your existing accounting tool for full bookkeeping.
What this page helps you do
Fill in invoice details quickly.
Add line items with quantities and amounts.
Export a clean PDF invoice.
Open the tool
Tools → Pre-production → Invoice Generator.
Fill in the basics
The form has fields for:
Your details: your name or studio, address, email, optional logo.
Client details: recipient name, company, address, email.
Invoice number: pick your numbering convention (sequential is standard).
Issue date and due date.
Notes or terms, optional.
The form remembers your "your details" between uses, so you don't re-fill each time.
Add line items
For each thing you're billing:
Description: what was done ("Card art for Castle Project, 24 cards").
Quantity: number of units.
Unit price: per-unit rate.
Amount: auto-calculated (quantity × unit price).
Add as many line items as you need. Subtotal, optional tax, and total calculate automatically.
Currency and tax
Currency: pick from the list.
Tax: add a tax line if applicable (VAT, GST, sales tax). Boardssey doesn't compute tax for you; enter the rate manually.
For tax-handling guidance, ask your accountant.
Export
Click Download PDF. The invoice exports as a clean, branded PDF you can email to your client.
Tips & common questions
Does Boardssey track who paid? No, the Invoice Generator is a document tool, not accounting software. Track payments in your accounting tool (or a spreadsheet).
Can I use this for retail sales at conventions? Yes for tax-receipt purposes (one invoice per sale). For high-volume retail, a proper POS is a better fit.
Is the invoice number automatically incremented? The tool suggests a next number based on what you used last; you can override.
Can I add my logo? Yes, upload it in the "your details" section. The logo appears in the PDF header.
Do my invoices stay saved in Boardssey? The tool keeps a brief history (last several invoices) for re-export. For long-term records, save the PDFs yourself.
