Understanding Boardssey Plans: Which One Is Right for You?

The Most Important Thing to Know First

No matter which plan you choose, unlimited team members costs the same.

One person or ten people working on your game—your monthly bill stays identical.

You won't pay extra per team member. You won't hit hidden "seat" limits. Everyone collaborates at the same price.

This is different from most other tools. Keep this in mind as you read the rest of this guide.

Plan 1: Adventurer ($5/month)

What You Get

5 games: You can create up to five games in your workspace.

All 15+ creator tools: P&P Cards Layout, Digital Mockups, Color Blindness Simulator, TTS Deck Editor, and all others. No tools are locked away.

Unlimited collaborators: Invite your whole playtest group, your artists, your co-designers. No extra cost.

Unlimited playtests: Test your game as many times as you want.

Full Game Center: Game Info, Media, Rules, Components, Pitches—everything.

Public catalog: Share your games in a professional online portfolio with a custom URL.

No credit card required: Try it completely free.

What You Don't Get

More than 5 games: If you try to create a sixth game, you'll hit the limit. You'd need to upgrade.

Sell Sheet Designer: The tool that auto-generates professional one-page pitch materials (available on higher plans).

Whiteboard: The visual collaboration tool for brainstorming together.

Who Should Choose Adventurer

Solo designers: Building your first game. You probably won't hit the 5-game limit.

Hobbyist creators: Just organizing and playtesting, not managing multiple projects.

Anyone wanting to try Boardssey: Test drive it free. No commitment.

Quick Decision

Are you only building one or two games right now?

Choose Adventurer. It's perfect and free.

Plan 2: Pathfinder ($15/month)

What You Get

Everything in Adventurer, plus:

20 games: You can now create up to twenty games.

Sell Sheet Designer: Auto-generates beautiful, professional one-page pitch materials. Pick a template. Boardssey pulls your game info. Get a PDF ready to print and share.

Real-time Whiteboard: An infinite canvas where you and your team brainstorm together visually. Draw, add notes, upload images, collaborate in real-time.

What You Don't Get

More than 20 games: The limit is higher than Adventurer, but it exists.

Team Chat: Available on Oracle only.

Priority support: Your emails get standard response times (not prioritized).

Who Should Choose Pathfinder

Small design teams: 2-5 people working together. The 20-game limit is plenty. Unlimited collaborators means you all stay in one workspace.

Multi-project designers: Building 3-4 games simultaneously. You need more than 5-game limit.

Publishers pitching games: The Sell Sheet Designer saves you hours. Instead of manually creating pitch materials, Boardssey does it for you.

Quick Decision

Do you have 3-5 games you're working on?

Choose Pathfinder.

Do you need to generate professional pitch materials?

Choose Pathfinder.

Do you work with a team that brainstorms visually?

Choose Pathfinder (the Whiteboard is valuable).

Plan 3: Oracle ($35/month)

What You Get

Everything in Pathfinder, plus:

Unlimited games: No cap. Create as many games as you need.

Priority support: Your support emails go to the front of the queue. Urgent issues get faster attention.

Team Chat (coming soon): In-app messaging so your team's conversations happen where the work is, not scattered across Slack and email.

Who Should Choose Oracle

Publishers: Managing multiple game titles (10+). You never hit a game limit.

Design studios: Large teams, many projects. You want centralized communication through Team Chat.

Freelancers managing client portfolios: You work on 10+ different client games. Unlimited projects makes sense for your workflow.

Anyone where $35/month is the right fit for their situation.

Quick Decision

Are you managing 20+ games?

Choose Oracle.

Do you run a game publishing company?

Choose Oracle.

Will you benefit from priority support and Team Chat?

Choose Oracle.

How to Choose: A Decision Guide

Question 1: How Many Games Are You Working On?

Answer: Just one right now

Adventurer is perfect. You have room to grow before hitting the 5-game limit.

Answer: Two or three games

Adventurer or Pathfinder both work. If you think you'll grow to more projects later, Pathfinder gives you 20 games.

Answer: Four to five games

Adventurer is the limit. If you add a sixth, you'll need to upgrade.

Answer: Six to twenty games

Pathfinder is right. Exactly the right game count.

Answer: More than twenty games

Oracle. Unlimited games.

Question 2: Do You Need Sell Sheet Designer?

The Sell Sheet Designer auto-generates professional one-page pitch documents for publishers.

You need it if:

  • You're actively pitching games to publishers

  • You're going to conventions and want pitch materials

  • You want to look polished and professional without design skills

You don't need it if:

  • You're just organizing and playtesting

  • You're not pitching to publishers yet

  • You prefer creating pitch materials yourself

If you need Sell Sheets: Pathfinder or Oracle.

If you don't: Adventurer is fine.

Question 3: Do You Work with a Team?

Team collaboration is free on all plans (unlimited collaborators).

But Whiteboard (visual collaboration tool) is only on Pathfinder and Oracle.

You want Whiteboard if:

  • You work with a team across different locations

  • You brainstorm visually together

  • You want an infinite canvas for idea sketching

You don't need Whiteboard if:

  • You work alone

  • Your team collaborates through text and files

  • Visual brainstorming isn't part of your process

If you want Whiteboard: Pathfinder or Oracle.

If you don't: Any plan works.

Understanding Upgrades and Downgrades

Can I Change Plans?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade anytime.

How Do Payments Work When I Change?

Boardssey uses a system called proration. Here's what it means in plain English:

If you upgrade mid-month:

You've already paid for Adventurer ($5) for 15 days. You upgrade to Pathfinder ($15) on day 15. Boardssey calculates what you owe for the remaining 15 days at the Pathfinder rate. You pay the difference. No extra charge for the days you already paid.

If you downgrade mid-month:

You paid for Pathfinder for the whole month. On day 15, you downgrade to Adventurer. Boardssey credits you for the remaining 15 days you don't use at the Pathfinder rate.

The point: You never pay for days you don't use. The math is fair both directions.

What If I Hit My Game Limit?

On Adventurer (5-game limit): If you try to create game six, the system says "you've hit your limit." You can upgrade to Pathfinder, or delete an old game to make room.

On Pathfinder (20-game limit): Same thing. Hit the limit, upgrade to Oracle or delete an old game.

You get a warning first. Boardssey doesn't surprise you when you hit a limit.

What If I Cancel?

Your games don't disappear. Your data stays safe. You just can't edit anything or access new features. It's like pressing pause on your workspace.

If you pay again later, everything is exactly where you left it.

Currency and International Pricing

What Currency Can I Pay In?

Boardssey supports 10+ currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, JPY, CHF, SEK, NZD, and SGD.

How Does This Work?

You see prices in your local currency. No surprise conversion charges. Your credit card is billed in your currency at that price. Simple.

Real Examples: Which Plan Should They Choose?

Example 1: Solo Designer, First Game

You're designing your first game solo. You're organizing ideas, writing rules, playtesting with friends.

Choose: Adventurer ($5/month)

  • You have one game (well under the 5-game limit)

  • You don't need to pitch to publishers yet (no Sell Sheet Designer needed)

  • You don't need the Whiteboard (working solo)

  • You save money while you figure things out

  • You can upgrade later when your needs change

Example 2: Small Design Team, Multiple Projects

You have two co-designers. You're working on a main game plus two experimental projects. You want to pitch your main game professionally.

Choose: Pathfinder ($15/month)

  • You have 3 games (well within Pathfinder's 20-game limit)

  • You need Sell Sheet Designer for professional pitches

  • You can use Whiteboard for team brainstorming

  • All three team members work in the same workspace at no extra cost

  • Monthly cost: $15 regardless of team size

Example 3: Publisher with Large Catalog

You publish board games. You manage 15 published titles plus 3 in development. You need quick access to everything.

Choose: Oracle ($35/month)

  • Unlimited games means your catalog can grow

  • You have priority support if problems arise

  • Team Chat (coming soon) lets your whole team communicate where the work is

  • Monthly cost: $35 regardless of how many team members

Example 4: Freelance Illustrator, Multiple Clients

You work with eight different publishers. Each has invited you into their workspace. You also maintain your own portfolio of sample games.

Choose: Oracle ($35/month) for your personal workspace

  • You maintain your own portfolio (could have 10-20 sample games)

  • You're a collaborator in eight publisher workspaces (their plans cover your access there)

  • Unlimited games gives you room for all your samples

  • No extra cost for the multiple publisher workspaces you're invited to

Common Questions About Plans

Q: Can I try Boardssey free?

A: Yes. Adventurer is free to start (no credit card). Use all the tools. Organize your games. Try everything. Upgrade only if you love it.

Q: What happens if my credit card payment fails?

A: Your workspace pauses. You can't edit. But your games stay safe. Fix the payment issue and you're back in.

Q: Can I pause my subscription?

A: Yes. You can pause anytime. Your games stay in your workspace. Come back whenever you're ready.

Q: If I'm on Pathfinder with 10 games and downgrade to Adventurer (5-game limit), what happens?

A: You can't downgrade until you have 5 games or fewer. Delete 5 games, then downgrade. Or keep the higher plan. Your choice.

Q: Does my plan include priority support immediately?

A: Priority support is only on Oracle. Adventurer and Pathfinder get standard support (still helpful, just not prioritized).

Q: Will my collaborators' plans affect what I see?

A: No. A collaborator on Adventurer can view and work on a game in your Oracle workspace. Their plan doesn't limit what they can do in your game.

The Simple Truth

You probably can't choose wrong.

If you pick Adventurer and later need more games or Sell Sheets, upgrade. You pay the difference. Problem solved.

If you pick Pathfinder and realize you only need Adventurer, downgrade. You get a credit.

Plans are flexible. Your needs will change. Boardssey lets you change with them.

So pick the plan that roughly fits your situation right now. When things change, change your plan. That's how it's designed.
