Read your game's playtest dashboard
Charts built from your logged playtests, from engagement and timing to scores by role, player count and turn order.
Last reviewed October 11, 2026
Every playtest you log feeds the game's Dashboard tab: averages, charts and comparisons built from the Playtest Information fields and the Score Board. This page explains each section and which fields it reads.
What this page helps you do
- See the overall numbers for a game at a glance.
- Compare setup, rules and play time by player count.
- Check whether a role, a seat or being a new player changes the odds of winning.
- Filter all of it by game version and by physical or remote sessions.
You'll start from the sidebar: Playtests, click the game, and the Dashboard tab opens first.
Before you start
- The charts only show what you logged. A session with no times gives no time charts; a Score Board with no scores gives no score charts.
- The dashboard is for the team only. Collaborators see it for the games they can open.
Filter the dashboard
Two pickers sit above the charts: Filter by Version and Filter by Type.
Helpful details
- Key areas: Filter by Version lists All Versions and each of the game's versions. Filter by Type offers All Types, Physical Playtest and Remote Playtest.
- What you can do: pick a version to see whether a change moved the numbers. Pick a type to compare in-person sessions with online ones.
- Good to know: the filters read the Game Version and the Physical Playtest switch on each playtest, so fill those in when you log a session. The filters apply to every section, including the custom field cards.
Overview
Four tiles summarize the filtered playtests.
Helpful details
- Key areas: Total Playtests, Avg Engagement ("out of 7.0"), Full Playthrough (the share of sessions with the Full Playthrough switch on) and First Player Win Rate.
- What you can do: glance here before a design meeting. "N/A" means the underlying field was never filled in.
- Good to know: First Player Win Rate uses Turn Order and Win on the Score Board. A rate far above the share you would expect by chance (50% at two players, 25% at four) is a sign of a first-player advantage.
Time Analysis
How long each part of a session takes, from the Game Time block.
Helpful details
- Key areas: Avg Setup Time, Avg Rules Time and Avg Play Time tiles; a Time Breakdown pie of setup, rules and play; and Setup Time by Player Count, Rules Time by Player Count and Play Time by Player Count bar charts.
- What you can do: check your box's "30 to 45 minutes" claim against real sessions, and see whether play time grows faster than you would like at higher player counts.
- Good to know: these charts need the start and end times of each part. Use Log Time during the session so you do not have to remember them.
Breakdown by Player Count
How the game behaves at each player count.
Helpful details
- Key areas: Player Count Distribution (how often you tested each count), Average Game Time by Player Count (setup, rules and play stacked) and Average Score by Player Count.
- What you can do: spot a player count you have barely tested, or a count where scores drift far from the others.
- Good to know: Player Count comes from the field on Playtest Information, not from how many rows the Score Board has.
Player Experience Analysis
Who wins and who enjoys the game, from the Score Board.
Helpful details
- Key areas:
- New vs Returning Players: Avg Score, Win Rate, Avg Engagement and Count for new players and for returning players, based on the New Player switch.
- Role Performance: average score and win rate per Role.
- Turn Order Impact: average score and win rate per seat ("Turn 1", "Turn 2", ...).
- One card per active custom field (Manage Fields on the Score Board), with the same average score and win rate for each value. A "Faction" field tells you which faction wins most.
- What you can do: find the role or seat that wins too often, and check whether newcomers can beat veterans.
- Good to know: this section appears once a Score Board has at least one player row, and each chart only appears when it has data. A player is "returning" whenever the New Player switch is off, so flip it on for first-timers. Type roles the same way every time ("Red", not "red" and "Red team"); the Role field suggests earlier values to help.
Score Analysis
The spread of final scores.
Helpful details
- Key areas: Min Score, Max Score, Median Score and Score Range tiles, and a Score Distribution bar chart in score buckets.
- What you can do: a very wide range or a lopsided distribution often points to a runaway leader or a scoring rule that dominates.
- Good to know: the section appears once the Score Board has scores.
Physical vs Digital Comparison
A side-by-side of in-person and online sessions, from the Physical Playtest switch.
Helpful details
- Key areas: Physical Playtests and Digital Playtests columns, each with Avg Engagement, Avg Playtime, Avg Score, Completion Rate (full playthroughs) and Total Playtests.
- What you can do: see whether your online testers finish the game less often or rate it lower than people at the table.
- Good to know: with the Filter by Type picker set to one type, the other column is empty.
Engagement Analysis
Your Overall Engagement Rating over time.
Helpful details
- Key areas: Engagement Rating Distribution (how many sessions got each score from 1 to 7), Playtests Over Time (sessions per month) and Average Engagement Rating Over Time.
- What you can do: check that engagement climbs from version to version. Combine with Filter by Version to isolate one release.
- Good to know: the rating is your own 1 to 7 judgement of the table, so the trend matters more than the absolute number.
Tips & common questions
The dashboard says "No dashboard data available". The game has no playtests yet, or none that match the filters. Log a session or set both filters back to All.
Why is a section missing? Sections and charts only appear when they have data. Time charts need the Game Time fields, score charts need scores, and the Player Experience section needs at least one player row on a Score Board.
Does the dashboard use feedback form answers? No. It reads the playtest records only (Playtest Information and the Score Board). Form responses live on the Feedback tab and can be exported to CSV. See Review playtest results.
Can I export the dashboard? There is no export or print view for the charts. Use your browser's screenshot tool for a slide, or export the form responses and playtesters as CSV.
Can I see the dashboard for all my games together? No. The dashboard is per game. The team home shows a small Playtests card with recent sessions across games.
