The Playtests page
Where your playtests live, how the Playtests page is organized by game, and how to open or start a playtest.
Last reviewed October 11, 2026
The Playtests page is the starting point for every playtest you run. It lists your games with a playtest count for each one, and each game has its own page with a dashboard, the list of sessions, all the feedback and the playtesters.
What this page helps you do
- See which games you have playtested, how often, and how recently.
- Open a game's playtests page and its four tabs.
- Log a new playtest for a game.
- Delete a playtest you no longer need.
You'll start from the sidebar: click Playtests (/home/playtests).
Before you start
- Playtests belong to a game. Create the game first if you have none (see Create a game).
- Everyone on the team can log playtests for the games they can open. Collaborators only see the games they were given access to.
- Every plan includes unlimited playtests.
Open the Playtests page
In the sidebar, click Playtests. The page title is "Playtests" and the line under it reads "Document each Playtest, track versions and analyze feedback". The page lists games, not individual sessions.
Helpful details
- Key areas: a table with the columns Game, Total Playtests, Last Playtest and Last Version Playtested. Games with the most recent playtest come first. A "Search for a game..." box above the table filters it by title.
- What you can do: click a game's row to open its playtests page. The table pages with a Rows per page picker (10 to 50).
- Good to know: the page looks different when there is nothing to show yet. With games but no playtests, you get a Create new playtest button (with several games it opens a "Choose the game this playtest is for" picker). With no games at all, you get a Visit Games page button.
A game's playtests page
Click a game in the table. The page shows the game title above "Playtests", a Create new playtest button at the top right, and four tabs.
Helpful details
- Key areas: the tabs are Dashboard, All Playtests, Feedback and Playtesters. The last two carry a count badge once they have content.
- What you can do:
- Dashboard: charts built from your logged sessions (engagement, time, player count, scores). See Read your game's playtest dashboard.
- All Playtests: one row per session, newest date first. Columns: Test Nº, Playtest Goal, Date, Game Version, Overall Time, Full Playthrough, Player Count, New Player, Feedback. A check mark under Full Playthrough means the switch was on; a check mark under Feedback means at least one score was entered on the Score Board. New Player is the number of first-time players. The "Search for a playtest" box filters by goal.
- Feedback: every feedback form response for this game in one table. See Review playtest results.
- Playtesters: the people who have played, added by hand or from form submissions. See Keep a list of your playtesters.
- Good to know: the game's own page (sidebar Games, then the game) also has a short "Playtests" list with a link to this page. Use Go Back at the top to return to the Playtests table.
Log a new playtest
Click Create new playtest. Boardssey creates the session right away, names it "Playtest 1", "Playtest 2" and so on, and opens it. There is no setup form to fill in first.
Helpful details
- Key areas: the new playtest opens on its Playtest Information tab, with the date, goal, version, player count, timing and score board fields.
- What you can do: fill in whatever you know now. The page saves itself two seconds after you stop typing. See Log a playtest session for every field.
- Good to know: the title and Test Nº are set for you and count up per game. You cannot rename a playtest; use the Playtest Goal field to describe it.
Delete a playtest
In All Playtests, open the row's menu (the three dots at the end of the row) and click Delete. A dialog asks you to type CONFIRM.
Helpful details
- Key areas: the three-dot menu is the last column of the table.
- What you can do: deleting removes the session, its players, its feedback forms and their responses.
- Good to know: the dialog warns that "All the data associated with this Playtest will be permanently deleted". There is no undo and no archive.
Tips & common questions
Can a playtest be linked to more than one game? No. A playtest belongs to one game. For a session where you tested two games, log one playtest under each game.
Where do I set a status like "running" or "reviewed"? Playtests have no status field. Use the Notes or Feedback tab on the playtest to write down where you are with it, and the Date to keep the list in order.
Why don't I see a game another team member playtested? You are probably a Collaborator without access to that game. Ask a team Admin to share the game with you (see Share access on a game).
Does the page show playtests from all my teams? No. Playtests belong to a team workspace. Switch teams from the workspace menu to see another team's playtests.
Can I log a playtest from the Virtual Table? Yes, if your team has the Prototypes beta. The room's Log playtest button saves the players and the length of the session under a game. See Log a playtest from the Virtual Table.
