Carton Marks

Generate a shipping carton label (SKU, contents, origin, destination, weights and size) as a PDF for your manufacturer.

When a factory packs your finished games into master cartons (the big brown boxes that go on a pallet), each carton needs a printed label: what is inside, how many, where it came from, where it is going, how heavy it is. Carton Marks makes that label as a PDF.

What this page helps you do

  • Fill in the SKU, carton contents, logo and countries.
  • Add quantity, weight and size details when you know them.
  • Download a print-ready carton label as a PDF.

You'll start from Tools, under the Pre-production chip.

Before you start

  • Ask your manufacturer which details they want on the carton. Weights and sizes usually come from them, not from you.
  • Have your logo ready as an image file if you want it on the label.

Open the tool

In the sidebar, open Tools, click Pre-production, then click Carton Marks.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: a form on the left and a live preview of the label on the right.
  • What you can do: every field updates the preview as you type.
  • Good to know: the tool is on the Tools list under Pre-production only.

Fill in the label

Type your product details into the form.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: SKU (your product code), Carton Content (the game name, shown in large letters), Logo Image with an Include Logo switch, Country of Origin and Country of Destination.
  • What you can do: pick the countries from the lists. The preview prints them as "MADE IN ... / DESTINATION : ...".
  • Good to know: Carton Content also names the file you download, so keep it short.

Add the carton details

Tick I know the carton mark details to reveal the shipping fields.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Quantity (pcs/ctn) (games per carton), Total Cartons, Net Weight (kg), Gross Weight (kg), and Length, Width and Height in cm.
  • What you can do: leave any field empty. The label then prints a blank line the factory can fill in by hand.
  • Good to know: net weight is the games alone; gross weight includes the carton.

Generate the PDF

Click Generate PDF. The label downloads as carton-mark-<carton content>.pdf.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: one landscape page, 700 by 460 mm, with the label centred.
  • What you can do: send the PDF to the factory, or ask them to print it at the size their carton needs.
  • Good to know: the PDF is vector, so it stays sharp when a printer scales it.

Tips & common questions

Does this tool make printer's marks (color bars, registration crosses)? No. It makes the label glued to a shipping carton. Cut and fold lines for a component come from Dieline Templates.

My manufacturer sent their own carton mark template. Use theirs. Factories often have a fixed layout for their packing line. This tool is for when they ask you to supply one.

Can I make one label for several games in one carton? Make a label per game, or type the mixed contents into Carton Content.

Where do the weights and sizes come from? From the manufacturer's quote or packing list. If you do not have them yet, leave the fields empty and the label prints blanks.
