Subscription Management

Change your plan, switch monthly to annual, update your payment method, view invoices, or cancel, all from your billing portal.

This page covers everything you can do to your Boardssey subscription after sign-up: upgrade, downgrade, switch between monthly and annual billing, change your payment method, download invoices, or cancel.

All of these live behind one button, Visit Billing Portal in your team settings. The portal itself is hosted by Stripe (our payment processor).

What this page helps you do

  • Change your plan (Adventurer ↔ Pathfinder ↔ Oracle).

  • Switch between monthly and annual billing.

  • Update your card or billing address.

  • Download past invoices.

  • Cancel your subscription.

Before you start

  • Only an Owner or Admin can manage billing. Members and Collaborators won't see these settings.

  • Your subscription belongs to your team workspace, not your personal account. If you're in multiple teams, each team has its own subscription.

1. Open Billing

In the sidebar, click your team name (bottom-left), then Settings β†’ Billing.

You'll see a summary of your current plan: which tier you're on, the renewal date, and the upcoming amount.

2. Visit the Billing Portal

Click Visit Billing Portal. This opens a new tab to a Stripe-hosted page that controls everything about your subscription. Don't close it until you're done.

From here you can:

  • Update subscription: change plan or billing frequency.

  • Cancel subscription: end your subscription at the end of the current period.

  • Update payment method: replace your card.

  • Edit billing information: name and address on the invoice.

  • Download invoices: every past invoice is listed at the bottom of the portal.

3. Change your plan

In the Billing Portal, click Update subscription.

Pick Monthly or Yearly at the top, then choose the plan:

  • Adventurer: $5/month or $50/year

  • Pathfinder: $15/month or $150/year

  • Oracle: $35/month or $350/year

Annual billing saves the equivalent of two months on every plan. See Plans and pricing for what each tier includes and the full localized currency table.

Click Continue to review, then Confirm. Changes take effect immediately.

Pro-rated upgrades and downgrades

Switching mid-billing-period is pro-rated:

  • Upgrades charge you the difference for the remaining days at the new tier's rate.

  • Downgrades credit you for the unused days at the old tier's rate; the credit goes against your next invoice.

You never pay for days you don't use.

Downgrading when you have too many games

If you're on Pathfinder with more than 5 games and try to downgrade to Adventurer, the portal will block the change until you delete or archive games down to the Adventurer limit. None of your data is lost from the games, just the ability to create new ones beyond the limit.

4. Update your payment method

In the Billing Portal, click Update payment method and enter the new card details. The new card replaces the old one for all future charges.

You can also add a backup payment method from the same screen, Stripe will fall back to it if the primary card fails.

5. Download an invoice

Scroll to the bottom of the Billing Portal. You'll see every invoice we've sent, each with a PDF link. Click to download.

Invoices include your team name, billing address, the line item for the plan, and any discounts (LaunchBoom, Panda, or coupon codes). They're suitable for expense reports.

6. Cancel your subscription

In the Billing Portal, click Cancel subscription. The portal will ask you to confirm.

What happens after you cancel:

  • Your subscription stays active through the end of the current billing period. You can keep using Pathfinder/Oracle features until then.

  • After that date, the team workspace drops to a free read-only state: you can sign in and see your games, but you can't create new ones, run new playtests, or use the gated features (Whiteboard, Sell Sheet Designer).

  • Your data stays in place. We don't delete it. If you re-subscribe later, your workspace picks up exactly where it was.

If you want to delete your team entirely (not just cancel), see Deleting a team workspace.

Tips & common questions

I cancelled by accident, can I undo it? Yes. Open the Billing Portal again before the period ends and click Renew subscription (or Reactivate). You'll keep your existing renewal date.

My card was declined. Stripe will retry the charge automatically over a few days. You'll get email notifications. To fix it now, open the Billing Portal and update your payment method. If your subscription has lapsed, paying the outstanding invoice will reinstate it.

Can I get a refund for an unused period? We don't issue automatic refunds for unused time, but downgrades and cancellations are pro-rated as described above. For special circumstances, contact us via the in-app chat bubble.

Can I change the billing email? Yes, in the Billing Portal, click Edit billing information. The billing email is separate from the email you sign in with; updating one doesn't change the other.

Does cancelling delete my games? No. Your games and data stay in the team workspace permanently. Only the ability to create new content is paused until you re-subscribe.

I'm on a LaunchBoom or Panda promo, what happens at the end? At the end of the promo, the regular Pathfinder rate kicks in unless you cancel. You'll get an email reminder before that happens. See LaunchBoom program and Panda Game Manufacturing program for details.
