Notifications and preferences

Choose which Boardssey events you want to hear about, where you hear about them, and how to mute the ones that don't matter.

Boardssey notifies you about things that happen in your team workspaces, task assignments, comment mentions, playtest feedback arriving, pitch reminders coming due. This page covers where notifications show up and how to turn off the ones you don't want.

What this page helps you do

  • See where notifications appear (in-app bell + email).

  • Pick which events you want notifications for.

  • Mute notifications during focused work or vacation.

Where notifications show up

Boardssey delivers notifications in two places:

  • In-app: the bell icon in the top bar shows a count of unread items. Click it to see the list. Click any item to jump to the thing it's about.

  • Email: for events you opt into, we send an email with a link back to the relevant page in Boardssey.

Both come from the same underlying events; you can turn either channel on or off per event type.

Open notification preferences

In the sidebar, click your name (bottom-left), then Settings. The User tab is the one for personal settings. Scroll to Notifications.

You'll see a list of event types with two toggles each: In-app and Email.

Event types

The exact list evolves over time. Common ones include:

  • You're mentioned in a comment: someone @-mentions you on a task or note.

  • A task is assigned to you: and reminders when its due date approaches.

  • Playtest feedback arrives: a new response on one of your feedback forms.

  • Pitch reminder: when a follow-up date you set comes due (see Pitch tracker for how reminders work).

  • Team invite: someone invites you to a team workspace.

  • Subscription notices: trial ending, payment failed, plan change confirmed.

Some categories (like billing notices) can't be fully turned off, we send billing-critical emails regardless of preferences, because missing one could silently lapse your subscription. Those are clearly marked.

Mute everything for a while

If you're heads-down on design work or going on vacation, the easiest move is to turn off In-app for the events you don't want to see, leave Email on (or off) to taste, and check back in when you're ready. There's no "snooze for 7 days" toggle today; we're tracking that on the roadmap.

Notifications across multiple teams

Notifications are per personal account, so if you're a Member of three teams you'll see notifications from all three in the same bell.

Each notification shows which team it's from. Clicking jumps you into that team's workspace; if you're on a different team's dashboard, Boardssey switches first.

Tips & common questions

I'm getting too many emails. Turn off Email on the event types you don't care about. The in-app bell will still show them so you can catch up on your own time.

Notifications stopped arriving, what happened? Two common reasons: (1) email is going to spam, check your spam folder, then mark Boardssey as not-spam to fix it long-term; (2) your email address on file is wrong or unverified, see Email and login to fix.

I want my whole team to get the same notifications. Each person manages their own preferences; there's no team-wide override today. Send your team a quick message about which events tend to matter for your workflow.

Can I get notifications in Slack or Discord? Not natively today. Boardssey sends in-app and email only. Slack/Discord integrations are on the roadmap.

The bell shows unread items I've already looked at. Click each item once to mark it read, or click Mark all as read at the top of the list. The count resets immediately.
