Game checklist

A built-in to-do list for each game, track the steps you've completed and what's left.

Each game has a Checklist, a lightweight to-do list scoped to that specific game. It's where you track the typical steps of a game's lifecycle without setting up a full project board.

Use the Checklist for solo, lightweight tracking. For team-coordinated work with assignees and due dates, use a Project board (see Tasks and subtasks).

What this page helps you do

  • See what's left to do on a game at a glance.

  • Tick off completed steps.

  • Customize the checklist for what your specific game needs.

Open the Checklist

On the game's page, click Checklist. You see a list of items, each with a checkbox.

If this is a brand-new game, the checklist may pre-populate with common steps (e.g. Write rules, Add cover image, Run first playtest, Build sell sheet). You can keep, edit, or remove these.

Tick items off

Click the checkbox next to an item. The item is marked complete and visibly de-emphasized. The Checklist's progress indicator updates.

To uncheck (e.g. if you marked something done by accident), click the checkbox again.

Add an item

Click Add item at the bottom of the checklist. Type the item title. Press Enter to save.

Items are sequential by default, newer ones go at the bottom. Drag to reorder.

Edit or remove an item

Click an item's text to edit. Click the to delete it.

What to put in a checklist

Best for single-game, single-person workflows where you don't need assignees, due dates, or comments. Examples:

  • Write first draft of rules

  • Run 3 internal playtests

  • Prepare prototype components

  • Get art for hero cards

  • Build sell sheet for v0.7

  • Pitch to 5 publishers

If your work involves multiple people or requires due dates and threading, set up a project board for the game instead, see Create a project.

Tips & common questions

Should I use the Checklist or a Project board? Checklist for "I need a list of what's left." Project board for "we need to coordinate who's doing what by when."

Can I assign items? Not in the Checklist. For assignment, use a project board's tasks.

Does the Checklist show completion in the games library? The library shows a small progress indicator on the game card if the Checklist has items. Useful for spotting which games are most-completed at a glance.

Can I save Checklist templates and apply them to new games? Not today. Game templates are on the roadmap.

Will completed items disappear? No, completed items stay in the list (greyed out / lower-emphasis). To remove them entirely, delete each one.
