Google Calendar integration

Two-way sync between your Boardssey tasks and your Google Calendar. Set it up, control what syncs, and disconnect cleanly.

Boardssey can sync your tasks with Google Calendar so deadlines you set in either place show up in both. This page covers connecting the two, choosing what gets synced, and disconnecting if you change your mind.

What this page helps you do

  • Connect your Google Calendar to Boardssey.

  • Pick which Boardssey tasks sync to Google Calendar.

  • Read Google Calendar events without them filling up Boardssey.

  • Disconnect cleanly when you no longer want the sync.

How the sync works

Two-way sync, with some shaping:

  • Boardssey → Google Calendar: tasks with due dates appear as events in a dedicated Google Calendar (we create it called "Boardssey" the first time you sync). Each event includes the task title, the project, and a link back to Boardssey.

  • Google Calendar → Boardssey: Google Calendar events show up in Boardssey's Calendar view as read-only entries, useful for planning around meetings, but you don't accidentally create Boardssey tasks from every meeting.

Edits sync both directions: change a task's due date in Boardssey, the calendar event moves; change a Google event date for a Boardssey-originated event, the task's due date updates.

1. Connect your Google Calendar

In team settings → IntegrationsGoogle Calendar, click Connect.

Google's OAuth screen opens. Sign in with the account whose calendar you want to sync, and authorize Boardssey to read and write your calendar.

After authorization you're back in Boardssey with a successful connection banner. Sync starts immediately.

The connection is per personal account, not per team, your sync follows you across teams. If you want a different Google Calendar per team, use a different Google account per team.

2. Choose what syncs

In the Google Calendar settings panel:

  • Which tasks sync to Google?: by default, every task with a due date that's assigned to you. Narrow by project or by your role (e.g. only tasks you're an assignee on).

  • Which Google events show in Boardssey?: by default, the primary calendar. You can pick specific Google calendars if you have multiple (work, personal, side project).

These are personal settings; teammates' syncs don't affect yours.

3. The "Boardssey" calendar in Google

The first sync creates a new calendar in Google called "Boardssey" (you can rename it). All Boardssey tasks land there, separate from your other calendars.

This makes it easy to:

  • Toggle Boardssey off in Google Calendar visually when you want a clean view.

  • Share the Boardssey calendar with someone (a co-founder, an assistant) via Google's standard share controls.

  • Color it distinctively so you spot Boardssey items at a glance.

Disconnecting

In Google Calendar settings, click Disconnect. Boardssey:

  • Stops syncing tasks to Google.

  • Stops reading Google Calendar events.

  • Leaves the existing "Boardssey" calendar in your Google account intact (no events are deleted).

If you want to remove the existing events, do so in Google Calendar directly after disconnecting. Boardssey doesn't go back and clean them up automatically, better to leave a record than to surprise you.

You can re-connect later. The sync resumes from then forward; pre-existing events you didn't delete don't get touched.

Tips & common questions

Will my tasks fill up my main calendar? No. Tasks sync to a dedicated "Boardssey" calendar, not your main one. Toggle visibility in Google Calendar's left sidebar.

Can I sync to a non-Google calendar (Outlook, Apple Calendar)? Boardssey only natively supports Google Calendar today. For Apple Calendar or Outlook, you can subscribe to your Google "Boardssey" calendar via its public URL (Google Calendar → Settings → Integrate calendar → Public URL).

Will my teammates see my Boardssey events on their Google Calendar? Only if you share the calendar with them in Google. By default it's private to your Google account.

A task I expected to sync didn't. Check your sync settings, you may have narrowed by project or role and this task doesn't match. Tasks without due dates never sync.

A Google event I expected to show in Boardssey didn't. Check that the Google Calendar it's on is one of your "show in Boardssey" calendars. Recurring events show as a single placeholder event in Boardssey (not every recurrence).

Why is the connection per-account, not per-team? Calendars belong to people, not workspaces. Most designers work across one or two teams with the same calendar. We're tracking team-level sync as a roadmap item.
