Your email, password and linked sign-in providers are personal settings that follow you into every team. This page is for anyone who needs to change how they sign in.

What this page helps you do

  • Change the email address you sign in with.
  • Set a new password.
  • Link or unlink Google and Discord sign-in.
  • Know what Sign out does and does not do.

You'll start from Settings > My Account.

Before you start

  • Open your profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Settings. The My Account tab is selected by default.
  • Keep access to your current inbox: email changes are confirmed by a link sent to the new address.

Change your email

  1. Scroll to the card Update your Email.
  2. Type the new address in Your New Email and again in Repeat Email.
  3. Click Update Email Address.
  4. Open the email Boardssey sends to the new address and click the link to confirm.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the Update your Email card on My Account.
  • What you can do: keep signing in with the old address until you click the confirmation link.
  • Good to know: no password is asked. If you sign in with Google or Discord, their account email stays as it is; this only changes the email on your Boardssey account. The billing email in the Stripe portal is separate.

Update your password

  1. Scroll to the card Update your Password.
  2. Type the new password in New Password and again in Repeat New Password.
  3. Click Update Password.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the Update your Password card. Passwords need at least 8 characters, with lowercase, uppercase, a number and a special character.
  • What you can do: set a first password here if you only ever signed in with Google or Discord, once your account has an email.
  • Good to know: there is no current-password field. If your session is old you see Reauthentication Required: sign out, sign in again and retry. Changing the password does not sign out other devices.

Link or unlink Google and Discord

Scroll to the card Linked Accounts. It lists the sign-in methods linked to your account and the ones you can still add.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Sign-in methods linked to your account and Available Methods. Google and Discord are the providers Boardssey offers; Add Email & Password adds a password to a social-only account.
  • What you can do: link a provider to sign in with it next time, or Unlink Account to remove one.
  • Good to know: keep at least one working method. If you only have Google linked, add an email and password before you unlink Google.

Sign out

Sign out is in the profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar. It ends the session in this browser only; your other devices stay signed in.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the profile menu, the MFA code screen and the /home/teams page all have a Sign out link.
  • What you can do: to leave a shared computer, sign out there before you close the browser.
  • Good to know: there is no "sign out everywhere" option. If you think someone else is signed in as you, change your password and sign out on each device yourself.

Tips & common questions

I forgot my password. On the sign-in page, click Forgot password? and enter your email. Boardssey emails you a link to set a new one. See Sign-in problems.

I lost access to the email on my account. If you can still sign in (with Google, Discord or a saved password), change the email as above. If you cannot sign in at all, contact us through the chat bubble on boardssey.com.

Can I have two accounts on the same email? No. One email, one Boardssey account.

Does changing my email change my Google sign-in? No. Google and Discord keep their own emails. Boardssey matches the account by the link you made, not by the address.

Where is multi-factor authentication? On the same tab, in the card Multi-Factor Authentication. See Multi-factor authentication (MFA).
