P&P Cards Layout

Arrange card fronts and backs on print-and-play sheets, with borders, crosshairs and duplex or gutterfold layouts, then download or save to a game.

Last reviewed October 11, 2026

P&P Cards Layout turns a folder of card images into a print-and-play PDF: cards arranged in a grid on A4, Letter or another page size, with cut guides, backs lined up for double-sided printing, and the option to file the PDF under a game.

What this page helps you do

  • Upload card fronts and backs (images or PDFs).
  • Pick a card size, a page size and a grid.
  • Choose a standard duplex layout or a fold-in-half gutterfold layout.
  • Add borders and crosshair cut marks.
  • Download the PDF or save it to a game's Media tab.

You'll start from Tools, under the Prototyping chip.

Before you start

  • Export every card at the same pixel size. 300 dpi at the printed size gives crisp output.
  • Decide whether you need backs. One shared back, one back per card, or none are all fine.

Open the tool

In the sidebar, open Tools, click Prototyping, then click P&P Cards Layout.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: uploaders for Cards Front and Cards Back, a settings column, and a Preview of the first sheet. Generate PDF is in the page header.
  • What you can do: change settings in any order; the preview and the "cards per sheet" summary update as you go.
  • Good to know: the card is listed under Prototyping only.

Upload fronts and backs

Drop your files into Cards Front. Add backs to Cards Back if you have them.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: both uploaders accept JPG, PNG, SVG and PDF. Each page of a PDF becomes one card; a Processing PDF dialog shows the progress.
  • What you can do: upload no backs, one back (the tool says "This back will be used for all cards"), or several. With several, use Select all, Assign selected fronts to back and Apply to pair them by hand, or accept Match backs to fronts to pair them by page number or upload order.
  • Good to know: backs are mirrored automatically for duplex printing. You never have to flip them yourself.

Choose a layout mode

Under Layout Mode, pick Standard or Gutterfold.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Standard puts fronts on one page and the matching backs on the next, so you print double-sided. Gutterfold puts fronts on the left half and backs on the right half of the same page, with a fold line down the middle: print single-sided, fold, glue, cut.
  • What you can do: in Gutterfold, open Gutter Settings for Gutter Width (mm), Distance from Cards to Gutter (mm), Fold Line Color, Fold Line Width (mm) and Show Fold Lines.
  • Good to know: Gutterfold needs backs. The Generate PDF button stays disabled until you upload some.

Set sizes and the grid

Pick a Card Preset or type a custom Card Size, then the Page Size and the Grid Layout.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: presets include Standard (63 × 88 mm), Standard USA, Mini USA, Chimera, Mini Chimera, Euro, Mini Euro, Copper, Silver, Gold, Tarot, French Tarot, Medium Square, Small Square and Yucatan. Page Size offers A4, A3, Letter and Legal, each also in landscape, plus Custom in mm. Grid Layout sets Rows and Columns.
  • What you can do: add Bleed (mm) around each card, and set Copies per card when a deck has duplicates.
  • Good to know: a warning reads "Cards exceed page dimensions" when the grid no longer fits. Lower the rows or columns, or switch to a bigger page.

Borders and cut marks

Open Border Settings and Crosshair Settings.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Border Settings draws a line around each card on the Front, the Back or both, Dashed or solid, with a Width (mm). Crosshair Settings adds small crosses at the card corners, with Line Width (mm), Size (mm) and Pick a color.
  • What you can do: turn borders off and keep only crosshairs for a cleaner cut, or the other way round.
  • Good to know: a thin dashed border is the easiest guide for scissors; crosshairs suit a guillotine.

Generate the PDF

Click Generate PDF. A dialog summarises the job ("36 cards on A4 pages").

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Download PDF saves the file. Save to game needs a game picked in the Game media library field and files the PDF in that game's Media tab as Print & Play, private until you share it there.
  • What you can do: in Standard mode, switch on Download front and back as separate PDFs when your print shop wants two files.
  • Good to know: saving to a game keeps your prototype files next to the game for collaborators and for your own next session.

Tips & common questions

My cards print too small. Check that the PDF page size matches the paper in the printer, and turn off "fit to page" in the print dialog.

The backs do not line up with the fronts. Print one sheet first to test your printer's duplex alignment. If it is off by a little, add 1 to 2 mm of Bleed so the drift hides in the bleed.

Can I round the corners too? Run the images through Rounded Corners first, or use a corner punch on the cut cards.

I want the deck in Tabletop Simulator instead. Use the TTS Deck Editor. It takes the same images.
