Email and login

Change your email address, update your password, and manage social sign-in (Google and Discord).

This page covers the parts of your sign-in you might want to change: your email address, your password, and which social providers (Google or Discord) are linked to your Boardssey account.

What this page helps you do

  • Change the email address you sign in with.

  • Update your password.

  • Connect or disconnect Google or Discord sign-in.

Before you start

  • All three of these are personal-account settings under Settings β†’ User. They apply to your sign-in regardless of which team workspace you're using.

  • If you have MFA turned on, some of these changes will ask for a current 6-digit code as a second confirmation. See Multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Change your email

In Settings β†’ User, find the Email section.

  1. Type your new email in the New email field.

  2. Re-type it to confirm.

  3. Enter your current password.

  4. Click Update email.

Boardssey sends a verification link to your new email. Click it to confirm. Until you click, your old email keeps working for sign-in. Once you confirm, the old email is replaced.

A few things to know:

  • The new email must not already be in use on another Boardssey account.

  • If you sign in with Google or Discord, your sign-in email comes from the provider; changing the email here only changes where Boardssey notifications go, not which Google or Discord account signs you in.

  • Billing emails are configured separately in the Billing Portal, see Update or cancel your subscription.

Update your password

In Settings β†’ User, find the Password section.

  1. Enter your current password.

  2. Enter your new password.

  3. Re-type it to confirm.

  4. Click Update password.

Pick a strong password, at least 12 characters, mixed case and a number help. Better still, use a password manager and let it generate one. If you use a password manager, save the new password before closing the page.

You won't be signed out of other devices automatically; if you suspect someone else has been signed in to your account, sign out from those devices manually or use the Sign out everywhere option (in the same section) to invalidate all other sessions.

Connect or disconnect social sign-in

Boardssey supports signing in with Google and Discord in addition to email + password. You can have any combination linked to your account.

In Settings β†’ User, find the Connected accounts (or Sign-in methods) section. You'll see Google and Discord listed with Connect or Disconnect buttons.

  • Connect: sends you to the provider, asks you to authorize Boardssey, then links that provider to your existing account. You can use it to sign in next time.

  • Disconnect: unlinks the provider. You can no longer sign in via that method.

You must always have at least one way to sign in, either email + password or at least one connected social provider. Boardssey won't let you disconnect your only sign-in method.

If you only ever signed up via Google or Discord and never set a password, your Password section will let you set one. Do that before disconnecting the social provider, otherwise you'd lock yourself out.

Tips & common questions

I forgot my password. On the sign-in page, click Forgot password?. We'll email a reset link to your account email. The link is single-use and expires after an hour.

I lost access to the email on my account. This is the trickiest case. If you can sign in (with Google, Discord, or a saved password), update the email first using the steps above. If you can't sign in at all, see Sign-in problems for the recovery path.

Can I have two accounts on the same email? No. Each email maps to one Boardssey personal account. If you signed up twice with the same email, contact us via the in-app chat bubble and we'll help merge or close one.

Why does Boardssey ask for my password when I update sensitive things? For your safety. A re-prompt prevents someone using a session you left open from changing your sign-in details.
