Design your catalog: logo, colors, fonts and layout

Upload a logo, write the sidebar intro, pick colors and Google fonts, set the game grid and choose what each game card shows.

The Design tab makes the catalog look like your studio: your logo and intro text, your colors and fonts, how many games fit in a row and what each game card shows. A live preview on the right shows your changes before you save them.

What this page helps you do

  • Upload a logo and write the text in the catalog's sidebar.
  • Set colors for highlights, buttons, titles, text and backgrounds.
  • Style how new games stand out.
  • Pick Google fonts and text sizes.
  • Choose the game grid and what each game card shows.

You'll start from Catalog > Design.

Before you start

  • The logo, logo size and sidebar text can be changed by any Member or Admin, and save as soon as you change them.
  • Everything else in the tab is the theme, and only Admins can save it. Members see the fields read-only with the note "Only team admins can change the theme."
  • Colors left empty use your team's brand colors. Set those once in your team settings and every catalog picks them up.

Add your logo and intro

Open the Logo and intro section. Upload a logo under Catalog Logo, pick a Logo size (Small, Medium or Large), and write your intro in Catalog Sidebar.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the logo appears in the catalog's sidebar on a computer and in the top bar on a phone. The sidebar text sits under it: a short bio, your contact details, where to find you at conventions.
  • What you can do: use the text editor for bold, italic, links and lists.
  • Good to know: without a logo of its own, the catalog shows the team logo from your account settings. The logo and text save on their own; they do not need Save theme.

Choose your colors

Open the Colors section. Each color is Automatic until you set it. Type a color code like #5B21B6, or #5B21B680 to make it see-through, and adjust Opacity if you want.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Highlights and buttons (Highlights for New badges, links and selling point bullets; Buttons; Button text), Text (Titles, Text, Labels for genre, players, time and other tags) and Backgrounds (Page background, Sidebar, Sidebar text, Full screen backdrop behind images opened full screen).
  • What you can do: set only the colors you care about. An empty color is picked for you so it reads well: button text and sidebar text are chosen to be readable on their backgrounds. Click Edit brand colors to set the team-wide colors every empty field falls back on.
  • Good to know: the tab warns you when a choice is hard to read ("Hard to read on its background. Pick a darker or lighter color.") and refuses dark page backgrounds and labels: catalogs stay light.

Style new games

Open the New games section to control how the games you marked New in Shared Games stand out.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Ring (the outline around a new game's card), Card background, NEW badge and NEW badge text.
  • What you can do: leave them empty and they follow your highlight color. Set them to make new releases pop in a different color.
  • Good to know: the card background has to stay light because the game's text sits on it.

Pick fonts

Open the Fonts section. Choose a font for Titles and one for Text, then a Title size and a Text size.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the default is the Boardssey font. Click a font field to search any Google font, filtered by Sans serif, Serif, Display, Handwriting or Monospace.
  • What you can do: match the typeface of your website or your game's logo.
  • Good to know: the preview loads the font so you see the result before you save.

Set the layout

Open the Layout section to shape the game grid on a computer.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Games per row (2, 3 or 4), Cover shape (Square, Portrait or Landscape) and Cover fit (Whole cover shows the whole image, Fill the frame crops it to fill the shape).
  • What you can do: pick Portrait for tall box art, Landscape for wide banners.
  • Good to know: phones always show one game per row.

Choose what game cards show

Open the Game cards section. Each switch shows or hides one piece of information on every game card and game page.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Selling points (your hooks), Age, Complexity, Price (MSRP), Licensing (the "Already licensed in" countries) and Search and filters above the games.
  • What you can do: hide prices on a catalog meant for reviewers, or hide complexity if you have not rated your games yet.
  • Good to know: with the filters on, visitors get a search box and Players, Play time and Genre filters above the grid.

Save and preview

The preview on the right updates as you change the theme. Switch it between Computer and Phone, click Refresh Preview to reload it, or Open in New Tab to see the live catalog. When you are happy, click Save theme. Discard changes throws away what you have not saved.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: an Unsaved changes note appears next to the buttons while something is pending.
  • What you can do: experiment freely; nothing reaches visitors until you save.
  • Good to know: the logo and sidebar text are the exception: they save on change, so the preview and the live catalog show them right away.

Tips & common questions

The Save theme button is disabled for me. Only Admins can save the theme. Ask an Admin, or ask to be made one. You can still change the logo and sidebar text.

My brand color is dark. Why does the background refuse it? Catalogs stay light so that game covers and text read well. Use your dark color for buttons, titles or the sidebar instead.

Can each catalog have its own design? Yes. Pick the catalog above the tabs; the Design tab shows that catalog's theme. A new catalog starts with a copy of the main catalog's design.

Can I go further than these settings? Admins can add custom CSS in the Advanced tab. See Analytics, custom code and SEO.
