Project Stats

A quick numerical view of a project's health, open vs. done, overdue, throughput, and what's coming up.

Project stats gives you a quick numerical pulse on a project: how much is open, how much is overdue, how fast tasks are getting completed, and what's coming up next. Useful for status check-ins and for spotting projects that have stalled.

What this page helps you do

  • See a project's health at a glance.

  • Spot what's overdue or piling up.

  • Get a sense of throughput (tasks completed over time).

  • Use the numbers to plan next steps.

Open project stats

Open the project from the Projects hub. Click Stats in the project header.

You'll see a dashboard with a few key numbers and small charts.

What's on the page

Common metrics:

  • Open tasks: how many tasks aren't yet in the Done column.

  • Done this week / this month: how many tasks have been completed in the last 7 / 30 days.

  • Overdue: open tasks past their due date. Red when above zero.

  • Coming up: open tasks due in the next 7 days.

  • Unassigned: open tasks without an assignee. Often a leak indicator.

  • By column: count of tasks in each column (so you can see if any one column is getting backed up).

  • By assignee: count of open tasks per person, useful for load balancing.

The exact metrics shown can evolve over time; the dashboard is meant to answer "is this project healthy?" without making you click around.

Reading the stats

A few patterns and what they mean:

  • High Overdue + low Done this week → the project is stalled. Time for a status check-in.

  • High Open + low In progress → backlog growing faster than work is getting done. Either prune the backlog or find capacity.

  • Single column has 80% of tasks → that column is your bottleneck. Look at why work is parking there.

  • Half the open tasks are unassigned → either you're triaging quickly enough or you're accumulating "later, maybe" items. Decide consciously.

  • Very low Done this month → tasks aren't being marked Done as work finishes. Coach the team to close out tasks, or rethink the workflow.

Tips & common questions

Stats look bad, what should I do? Use the dashboard as a conversation starter, not a verdict. Bad numbers often reflect rough patches in real work. Talk to the team about what's happening before reorganizing.

Can I see stats across all projects? Today stats are per-project. The Boardssey dashboard surface (sidebar → Dashboard) shows some cross-project numbers; full cross-project analytics is on the roadmap.

Can I export the stats to a report? Not directly. Take a screenshot for status updates, or copy specific numbers into a doc.

The numbers don't update immediately. Stats are computed periodically and may lag by a few minutes. If something seems wildly off, refresh the page.

Can I customize which metrics show? Not today. The default dashboard is the one we offer.
