Start your 14-day free trial

How the 14-day free trial works, what it includes, how to change plans during it, and how to cancel before you are charged.

Last reviewed October 11, 2026

Every paid Boardssey plan starts with a 14-day free trial. This page is for anyone creating a team who wants to know what the trial includes, what happens at the end, and how to stop before paying.

What this page helps you do

  • Start a trial on Adventurer, Pathfinder or Oracle.
  • Know what you get during the 14 days.
  • Change plans or cancel before the first charge.
  • Understand what happens to your team when a trial ends.

You'll start from the Plan step of the sign-up flow, or from your team's Billing page.

Before you start

  • A card is required. Checkout runs on Stripe, our payment processor, and the card is charged only when the trial ends.
  • The trial belongs to a team, not to you. Each team you create has its own plan and its own trial.
  • LaunchBoom and Panda clients skip the trial: their partner plan is free from day one. See the two program articles below.

Start the trial

Pick a plan card and click Start 14-Day Trial. Boardssey sends you to Stripe checkout, where you enter your card. When checkout finishes you land back in your team, with every feature of the plan switched on.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the Plan step of sign-up shows three cards with a monthly or yearly toggle. An existing team without a plan sees the same cards on its Billing page.
  • What you can do: choose monthly or yearly before checkout. A year costs the same as ten months.
  • Good to know: a new team cannot open its pages until a plan is chosen; every page sends you to Billing until then.

What the trial includes

The trial is the real plan, not a reduced version. You get the full feature set and limits of the plan you picked: 5, 20 or unlimited games, 10, 40 or unlimited projects, and every gated feature on that plan.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Pathfinder adds Whiteboard, Sell Sheet Designer, Component Designer, 3D Mockups and the Virtual Table. Oracle adds Team Chat, Virtual Table AI Automations and Multiple Catalogs. See Plans and pricing.
  • What you can do: invite unlimited teammates and log unlimited playtests on every plan.
  • Good to know: Component Designer, Virtual Table and 3D Mockups are beta features rolling out to teams, so they may appear a little later for a new team.

Pick the plan to trial

Trial the plan you expect to pay for. Switching plans later does not restart the 14 days.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the plan cards.
  • What you can do: choose Adventurer for one or two games, Pathfinder to try the design tools, Oracle for Team Chat or more than 20 games.
  • Good to know: if you are unsure, start with Pathfinder. You can move to Adventurer before the trial ends from the Billing Portal.

Watch the end date

Your team's Billing page shows your plan and, near the end of the trial, an alert titled Your Trial is ending soon with the exact date. On that date Stripe charges your card for the plan and billing period you chose. No extra confirmation step appears.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: open your profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar, choose Settings, then the Billing tab (Primary Owner). Admins reach the same Billing page from any upgrade button.
  • What you can do: click Visit Billing Portal to change the plan, the billing period or the card before the charge.
  • Good to know: only the Primary Owner sees the Billing tab in Settings. Members and Collaborators see "You cannot manage billing".

Cancel before you are charged

  1. Open your profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Settings.
  2. Open the Billing tab and click Visit Billing Portal.
  3. In the Stripe portal, cancel the subscription and confirm.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the Stripe Billing Portal opens in a new tab.
  • What you can do: keep using the team until the trial end date; your card is never charged.
  • Good to know: after the end date the team is locked, not read-only. Every page redirects to Billing until someone picks a plan again. Your games and data stay in place.

Tips & common questions

Do I need a credit card to start? Yes, for Adventurer, Pathfinder and Oracle. Partner plans (LaunchBoom, Panda) need no card.

Can I extend the trial? The trial is 14 days. If you need more time for a specific reason, ask us through the chat bubble; we can look at it case by case.

Can I trial two plans one after the other? No. One trial per team. Changing plans during the trial keeps the same end date.

What happens to my games if I cancel? They stay in the team. Subscribe again later and you pick up where you left off.

Can I start a second team on a trial? Yes. Each team has its own subscription and its own 14 days.
