Update or cancel your subscription

Change your plan, switch monthly to yearly, update your card, download invoices or cancel, all from the Stripe Billing Portal.

Everything you can do to a subscription after sign-up, upgrading, downgrading, changing the billing period, replacing your card, downloading invoices or cancelling, happens in one place: the Stripe Billing Portal. This page is for the person who manages the team's plan.

What this page helps you do

  • Open the Billing Portal for your team.
  • Change plan or switch between monthly and yearly billing.
  • Update your card or billing details and download invoices.
  • Cancel, and know what happens to the team afterwards.

You'll start from your team's Billing page.

Before you start

  • The Billing tab in Settings is for the team's Primary Owner only. Admins can also manage billing: any upgrade button in the app takes them to the team's Billing page, which shows the same Visit Billing Portal button.
  • Members and Collaborators see "You cannot manage billing" and need to ask an Admin or the Primary Owner.
  • A subscription belongs to a team, not to a person. Each team has its own.

Open the Billing page

Open your profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar, choose Settings, then the Billing tab. The page shows your current plan (card Your Plan), when it renews and the plan's feature list.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: Your Plan on the left, Plan Details on the right, and the card Manage your Billing Details underneath.
  • What you can do: read your renewal date and price ("Renews every month at ..."), or see that a cancellation is scheduled ("Your subscription is scheduled to be canceled on ...").
  • Good to know: during a trial the page also warns Your Trial is ending soon with the date of the first charge.

Visit the Billing Portal

Click Visit Billing Portal. A Stripe page opens where you manage the subscription itself.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: your current plan, your payment method, your billing information, and the list of past invoices.
  • What you can do: update the plan or billing period, replace the card, edit the name and address on invoices, download invoice PDFs, cancel.
  • Good to know: the portal is hosted by Stripe, so its wording can change without notice. Boardssey never sees your full card number.

Change your plan or billing period

In the portal, update the subscription and pick the new plan (Adventurer, Pathfinder or Oracle) and period (monthly or yearly). Confirm the change.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the plan picker in the portal. Prices are the ones from Plans and pricing.
  • What you can do: upgrade and get the new features right away; downgrade and keep the old plan's features until the current period ends, depending on how Stripe applies the change.
  • Good to know: nothing blocks a downgrade when you have more games than the new limit. Your games stay, including archived ones, which also count toward the limit. The New game button is disabled until you are under the limit again.

Update your card or billing details

In the portal, replace the payment method or edit the billing information. The new card is used for every future charge.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: payment method and billing information sections of the portal.
  • What you can do: add a VAT or tax number to your billing information where Stripe offers it.
  • Good to know: the billing email in the portal is separate from the email you sign in with. Changing one does not change the other.

Download an invoice

The portal lists every invoice Stripe issued for the team, each with a PDF link.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: the invoice list at the bottom of the portal.
  • What you can do: download invoices for expense reports.
  • Good to know: invoices show the billing name and address from the portal, not your Boardssey team name.

Cancel your subscription

In the portal, cancel the subscription and confirm.

Helpful details

  • Key areas: after cancelling, the Boardssey Billing page reads "Your subscription is scheduled to be canceled on {date}".
  • What you can do: keep using every feature until that date. You can also reactivate in the portal before the date.
  • Good to know: when the date passes, the team is locked, not read-only: every page redirects to Billing until someone picks a plan again. Nothing is deleted. To remove the team and its data instead, see Delete a team workspace.

Tips & common questions

I cancelled by mistake. Can I undo it? Yes, as long as the end date has not passed. Open the Billing Portal again and renew the subscription.

My card was declined. Stripe retries on its own and emails you. Update the card in the portal to fix it right away. The Billing page shows Past Due or Unpaid until the payment goes through, and the team is locked while the subscription is not active.

Can I get a refund for unused time? Refunds are not automatic. Contact us through the chat bubble and we will look at your case.

I am an Admin and there is no Billing tab in my Settings. That tab is for the Primary Owner. Click any Upgrade button, or ask the Primary Owner to open Settings > Billing.

I am on LaunchBoom or Panda. What happens at the end? LaunchBoom access ends after 3 months and the team then picks a paid plan on the Billing page. Panda access has no end date. See LaunchBoom program and Panda Game Manufacturing program.
