The Advanced tab is for teams who want to go beyond the Design tab: connect their own analytics, fine-tune the look with CSS, or add a widget with JavaScript. This article also explains what Boardssey already does so your catalog is found by search engines.
What this page helps you do
- Add a Google Analytics 4 or Meta pixel ID without touching code.
- Write custom CSS for the catalog.
- Add JavaScript to the head or body of every catalog page.
- Know what Boardssey handles for SEO on its own.
You'll start from Catalog > Advanced.
Before you start
- Only Admins can change analytics and custom code. Members see the fields read-only with the notes "Only team admins can change analytics." and "Only team admins can change the custom code."
- Custom code runs on your visitors' browsers on
bdsy.cc. Only paste code you understand and trust. - Each catalog has its own analytics and code.
Add your analytics IDs
In the sidebar, click Catalog and open Advanced. In the Analytics card, paste your Google Analytics 4 measurement ID (it looks like G-ABC123XYZ9) and your Meta pixel ID (digits only). Click Save analytics.
Helpful details
- Key areas: "Paste your IDs and Boardssey adds the tags, no code needed."
- What you can do: fill in one or both. Leave a field empty to remove that tag.
- Good to know: these tools set cookies on your visitors, so your own privacy obligations apply. Boardssey's own Stats tab works without cookies. See See how visitors use your catalog.
Write custom CSS
In the Custom Code card, type your rules under Custom CSS, without <style> tags. The code saves a moment after you stop typing, and the preview on the right shows the result (click Refresh Preview if needed).
Helpful details
- Key areas: the Classes you can style list shows the class names the catalog uses. "These class names stay the same when the catalog is updated. Your CSS loads after the theme, so your rules win."
- What you can do: adjust spacing, hide an element, or style a detail the Design tab does not cover.
- Good to know: try the Design tab first; colors, fonts, layout and card contents are all there without code. See Design your catalog.
Add JavaScript
Below the CSS, three fields take JavaScript: Custom JavaScript (Head), Custom JavaScript (Body Start) and Custom JavaScript (Body End). Each saves a moment after you stop typing.
Helpful details
- Key areas: head code runs before the page shows, body end code after the content is in place.
- What you can do: add a chat widget, a newsletter form or a tracking tool that is not Google Analytics or Meta.
- Good to know: this is why catalogs live on
bdsy.ccand not on the app's address: custom code can never reach your team's Boardssey session. If something breaks the catalog, clear the field and the page recovers on the next load.
What Boardssey does for search engines
You do not need to configure SEO. Every published catalog, game page and content page is included in the sitemap on bdsy.cc, gets a canonical address, structured data (the machine-readable description search engines read) and share cards for social networks and chat apps.
Helpful details
- Key areas: a game page's share card uses the game's cover, name and a line built from its genre, players and play time. A content page uses its Search description.
- What you can do: write a good short description for each game and a Search description for each page. See Add pages and menu links to your catalog.
- Good to know: draft pages are not in the sitemap, and neither is a catalog that is not published.
Tips & common questions
My GA4 ID is refused.
It must start with G-, like G-ABC123XYZ9. Older UA- properties are not supported by Google anymore.
I pasted CSS but nothing changed. Check the class names against the Classes you can style list, then click Refresh Preview. Public pages are cached; saving clears the cache, so a reload shows the change.
Can I change the HTML of the catalog? Not directly. Use CSS to restyle or hide elements and the page designer to build your own pages. See Lay out a catalog page with blocks.
Does custom code apply to the embedded catalog on my website? Yes. The embed shows the same catalog, so your CSS and JavaScript run inside the iframe as well.
