Every plan in Boardssey starts with a 14-day free trial. Card details are required up front, your card isn't charged until day 15, and you can cancel any time before then with no charge.
This page covers what the trial includes, how to get the most out of it, and how to handle the end of the trial.
What this page helps you do
Know exactly what you're getting (and what you're not).
Pick the right plan to trial.
Cancel before being charged if Boardssey isn't a fit.
What the trial includes
You get full access to whichever plan you signed up for during the 14 days. That includes:
Every feature gated to that plan (Whiteboard and Sell Sheet Designer if you're on Pathfinder or Oracle, more games if you picked a higher tier).
Unlimited seats, invite as many collaborators as you want.
Unlimited playtests, the External Game Catalog, and all 15 Game Dev tools.
Full Intercom support via the in-app chat bubble.
There's no "trial mode" with reduced functionality, the 14 days are the real product.
Picking the right plan to trial
You can change plans during the trial as easily as after, and the trial timer keeps ticking regardless. So pick the plan that matches what you actually intend to use:
Adventurer: if you're a solo designer testing the basics.
Pathfinder: if you want to try the Whiteboard and Sell Sheet Designer. This is the most common trial choice.
Oracle: if you have many games (15+) you want to import or organize.
If you're not sure: trial Pathfinder. It includes everything except unlimited games. You'll get a complete picture and can downgrade to Adventurer on day 14 if you don't need the extras.
For the full feature breakdown, see Plans and pricing.
Making the most of 14 days
A rough plan for a useful trial:
Days 1–2: create one real game. Add it as completely as you can. Go through Quick start in 5 minutes and Your first week. You want to feel what it's like to have a game in Boardssey.
Days 3–5: try the tools relevant to your current work, the Whiteboard (if trialing Pathfinder/Oracle), and a small playtest if you have one scheduled.
Days 6–10: invite one or two collaborators to your team and let them poke around. Their experience is part of the picture.
Days 11–13: decide. Visit the Billing Portal to confirm the plan and billing frequency you want. Cancel if it's not for you.
You don't have to follow this schedule, Boardssey is built to grow with the work, so even a trial that's mostly day 1 + day 13 still tells you what you need to know.
How the end of the trial works
On day 15, your card is charged for whichever plan and billing frequency you picked during sign-up. There's no "trial expired, please confirm" interstitial to click through, billing is automatic.
You'll get an email reminder a few days before day 15 to make sure nothing surprises you.
If you want to change plans before being charged, say, drop from Pathfinder to Adventurer, open the Billing Portal and switch. The change takes effect immediately, and the day-15 charge will be at the new rate.
Cancelling before being charged
If Boardssey isn't a fit:
Open team settings → Billing → Visit Billing Portal.
Click Cancel subscription.
Confirm.
You'll keep access until the end of day 14. After that the workspace drops to a read-only state and your card is never charged. See Update or cancel your subscription for the full mechanics.
Your data stays in place, if you re-subscribe later, your workspace picks up where you left off.
Special programs and the trial
If you're using a special program (LaunchBoom or Panda), the program replaces the trial. You don't need both. Once you're in the program, you're already on Pathfinder, no 14-day clock running.
See LaunchBoom program and Panda Game Manufacturing program for redemption.
Tips & common questions
Do I need a credit card to start? Yes. This is so we can charge you on day 15 if you keep going. Your card is not charged before then.
Can I extend the trial? The 14-day length is the standard. If you have a reason to need more time (running an event, evaluating with a team that's part-time), reach out via the in-app chat bubble, we can sometimes extend case-by-case.
Can I trial multiple plans back-to-back? No, you trial one plan, and switching during the trial doesn't reset the clock. The trial is per team workspace, not per plan.
Can I trial a second team workspace? Yes. Each team workspace has its own subscription, including its own trial.
Will Boardssey try to upsell me during the trial? We'll send a couple of educational emails (getting-started tips, a reminder before day 15). We don't run a high-pressure sales sequence, we'd rather you keep using Boardssey because it works for you.
What happens to my games and data if I cancel before day 15? They stay. The workspace just goes read-only. Re-subscribe later (within a reasonable window) and you pick up where you left off.
